Window frames made of plastic reinforced with glass fibers, combining a polymer matrix with fibrous reinforcement.
Fiberglass is a fairly high-quality material for window frames. It is relatively expensive, but can limit heat loss because of its low thermal conductivity. It is also highly durable, and requires very little maintenance.
The glass fibers reinforce the plastic frame material. They are distinct from the glass panes held within the frame.
The frame can contribute relatively high thermal resistance while requiring little maintenance. Its performance is one part of the complete window, together with the glazing and frame construction.
