owner's broker commission

An owner's broker commission is the service fee paid by the owner of a property to his agent upon the successful location of a satisfactory tenant or purchaser and the closing of a deal with that party.

The owner is the paying client, and the agent acts on that side of the sale or lease. The stated fee follows both a satisfactory match and completion of the deal.

A buyer or renter broker commission concerns the property seeker's agent. A shared broker commission is divided between the agents on both sides.
