gymnastics
Space for gymnastic practice or performance, with an open floor and various gymnastic equipment.
A gymnastics area is a place for training or performance of highly coordinated athletic events, such as jumps, flips, and vaults. The exercises usually take place on a cushioned floor, balance beam, pommel horse, parallel bars, or suspended rings. This usage also includes spaces for rhythmic gymnastics and various forms of alternate gymnastic activities.
Training spaces and performance venues are both included. The apparatus depends on the gymnastic activity practiced there.
Rhythmic gymnastics and alternative forms are expressly included. A facility need not contain every apparatus associated with artistic gymnastics.
