Movable elements in front of a facade which limit the amount of sunlight entering windows.

Movable sunshades are elements attached to or placed in front of a facade which can be moved manually or automatically to save energy in a building by limiting the amount of sunlight that penetrates the perimeter windows. They often take the form of louvers which can be opened or closed. Screens which roll completely over a window to seal it are not sunshades, but are listed as outdoor window screens.

Sunshades which cannot be opened, raised, or moved are listed as fixed sunshades rather than movable.

Manual and automatic movement are both included. Screens that roll over and seal a window remain outdoor window screens, while sunshades regulate sunlight without that covering function.
