sunbathing
A site designated or conventionally used for resting in sunlight, outside an indoor tanning facility.
A sunbathing location is a site designated or commonly used for lying down or sitting in the sunlight, with the purpose of basking in the sun's warmth or darkening the skin. It is commonly applied to beaches, coastal areas, and parks. It is generally not applied to buildings with sundecks, where the sunbathing area is an amenity serving the principal usage area rather than a usage in itself.
Sunbathing does not refer to solariums or tanning parlors, which are indoor commercial facilities for tanning.
This usage should not be applied indiscriminately to all places where sunbathing is possible or allowed, but only to places which are frequently and conventionally used for sunbathing.
