A jazz club is a nightclub, lounge, bar, or similar venue which specializes in featuring live performances of jazz music, usually with some combination of singers or instrumentalists, especially piano or band. Customers generally come to drink, hear music, socialize, and possibly to eat or dance.

Live jazz is the specialization, whether performed by singers, instrumentalists, or both. A piano or a particular band size is not required.

Food, drinks, and socializing can accompany the performances. The venue remains focused on hearing jazz even when patrons also dance.
