A Lutheran church is a dedicated place for masses, prayers, and worship in the Evangelical or Lutheran faith, a Protestant denomination of Christianity.
Lutheran worship belongs to the church tradition associated with the Lutheran confessions, including the Augsburg Confession. Preaching and the sacraments are characteristic parts of that tradition.
The name Evangelical is used by many Lutheran churches, but it also appears in other Christian traditions. The word Evangelical alone can therefore leave the precise religious affiliation unclear, including the distinction between Lutheran and Reformed traditions.
