annual electricity production

The total number of kilowatt-hours produced within a structure or other object within a year.

The annual electricity production of a structure or other object is the total amount of electric energy measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh) which is generated within that entity in one year, regardless of whether it is used there, distributed to other places, or wasted. This includes energy generated in a power plant, through a small generator, or from local devices such as wind turbines or photovoltaic cells.

The generating equipment must produce the electricity within the object's boundary. Electricity imported from the grid and consumed there does not count as generation within the object.

Electricity sent elsewhere remains part of the production total. Subtracting the object's own consumption would produce a different figure from all electricity generated during the year.
