government services

Government service offices are places where government agencies, departments, or other branches administer or perform any of various services.

The office can manage a service program or deliver that service to recipients. Public-facing counters are therefore not required in every qualifying office; administrative premises for the program are included.

The service supplied distinguishes the specific use, such as taxation, employment assistance, or social welfare. A private firm providing related assistance does not become a government service office simply because its work concerns government procedures.
