junior roller coaster
A roller coaster whose track varies vertically by no more than 10 meters over its whole course.
A junior roller coaster is any kind of roller coaster whose track does not deviate vertically more than 10 meters from any position on its course. Such roller coasters are generally designed for children or for persons wishing to avoid the extreme motions of typical roller coasters. They can also be set up where conditions or budgets do not allow for higher forms of roller coasters.
The limit concerns the difference in track height over the course. It does not measure the ride's total length or require a particular route shape.
A compact layout or an intended young audience alone does not establish the height variation. The same vertical limit applies whether the track follows a circuit or reverses along a shuttle route.
