Korean legal dong code

An official identifier for a South Korean legal district in the national administrative standard code system.

A Korean legal dong code identifies a legal geographical district in South Korea. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety provides the codes through the administrative standard code system.

The full code has ten digits: two for the province or metropolitan city, three for the municipality-level unit, three for the eup, myeon, or dong, and two for the ri component. A code without a ri subdivision still has the full ten-digit form, with zeros in that component.

The first eight digits identify the eup, myeon, or dong level and can appear as an abbreviated form. Legal districts and administrative districts are separate concepts, so a change to an administrative district does not by itself define a change to the legal district code.
