damper fabricator

A manufacturer of devices installed in a structure to counteract its sway during winds or earthquakes.

Manufacturers of systems and devices which modify the sway caused by wind or earth movements to towers, bridges, or other building elements.

The manufactured device acts on the movement of a structure or one of its elements. Wind and earth movement are the causes identified in the definition, and the device's function is to modify the resulting sway.

The damper is distinct from the general structural members of the tower, bridge, or building. A steel fabricator supplies framing members, while the damper fabricator supplies the system or device specifically concerned with the movement.
