A belde municipality is a Turkish municipal government for a town that is not the administrative center of a province or district.

It is a public legal entity with an elected decision-making body and authority over local common needs within its boundary. The municipality belongs to the town; the surrounding district remains a separate territorial unit.

A district municipality governs in the district center or within a metropolitan structure. A village has no municipal corporation, so it is outside this municipal class.
