Pools or other water areas designated for swimming, with pools large and deep enough for timed laps but not necessarily marked lanes.
A swimming area is a facility or place with one or more pools or other bodies of water designated for athletic or recreational swimming. Pools must be large and deep enough to swim timed laps, although it need not be divided into lanes.
The pool must permit timed lap swimming even when used mainly for recreation. Marked lanes are not mandatory.
Designated swimming areas in other bodies of water are also included. The definition is therefore broader than an enclosed swimming-pool building.
