facade designer
The designer of a building's facade, without involvement in the rest of the structure.
Persons or firms which design only the surface of a building; not responsible for the general shape, structure, or plan of the building.
The role is limited to the building's surface design. Responsibility for its overall shape, structural system, and plan lies outside that assignment.
The distinction concerns the scope of the design work rather than the chosen cladding material. A facade-only commission differs from the chief architect's design of the building as a whole.
