demolition start

The actual date when work to demolish a structure began, identifying the start of its removal.

Demolition of a structure starts when work to remove it actually begins, whatever the method. It is a record of something that happened, unlike the expected demolition start, which holds a forecast until this date is known.

The expected and actual dates describe different things. A past forecast and an absent actual date do not establish whether demolition occurred. Evidence of the work is needed to establish its actual start.

The start of demolition does not establish when demolition was completed. A start date alone cannot show how much of the structure remains at a later date.
