Alvar Aalto Medal
A Finnish international architecture medal honoring an architect for distinguished creative work.
The medal is awarded by Finnish architectural institutions bearing Alvar Aalto's name, irregularly and roughly every three years since 1967.
It honors an architect rather than a single building, so a building carrying it is associated with the laureate rather than being the reason for the award.
The distinction concerns creative achievement across the architect's work. It does not establish that each individual building designed by the recipient has separately won a project award.
