hotel operator
The business which manages or lends its brand to a hotel, motel, or similar form of lodging.
A hotel operator is the individual, firm, or chain which manages or lends its brand to any hotel, motel, hostel, single room occupancy, or similar form of lodging facility. In many cases two operators can be connected to the same hotel - one as the brand, and the other as the managing entity.
A lodging brand and a separate managing business can both have operator connections to one property. The role can arise from direct management or lending the operating brand.
The scope includes hostels and single-room-occupancy lodging as well as hotels and motels. Legal ownership alone does not establish an operating or branding relationship.
