underground station
A below-ground space which provides access to a tunnel system, and which has no buildings over it.
An underground station is a space or connected group of spaces below the surface of the ground, which does not have any buildings standing over it, which gives passengers access to a subway or other vehicles in a network of tunnels.
The underground space provides passenger access to vehicles in the tunnel network. The absence of buildings above it is part of the stated structural form.
The object can consist of connected spaces rather than one chamber. Its access function separates it from underground space serving another building purpose.
