Taiwanese district code

The eight-digit code identifying a Taiwanese township or district, kept by the Ministry of the Interior.

Eight digits: the five-digit Taiwanese county code followed by three for the township or district within it. Alishan is 10010180 in Chiayi County 10010, and Alian is 64000230 in Kaohsiung 64000.

The last of the three digits is a reserved slot and is normally zero, so the township number itself is the two digits before it.

Because the county is embedded, the parent follows from the code. Note that Chiayi County 10010 and Chiayi City 10020 are separate units with separate codes, and a township code beginning 10010 belongs to the county rather than the city.
