ziggurat

A square or rectangular roof with at least two closely spaced, nearly centered setbacks forming a stepped pyramid.

A ziggurat roof is the top of a building which is square or rectangular in plan, which has at least 2 levels of setbacks in close sequence forming a stepped pyramid outline. The ziggurat must be approximately symmetrical, with the box-shaped structure above each level nearly centered within the setback.

The box above each setback must be nearly centered, and the form must remain approximately symmetrical. Perfect geometric symmetry is not required.

Terraced roofs can have setbacks on one side or in less regular arrangements. The ziggurat form requires the stated square or rectangular plan and at least two successive setback levels.
