Manufacturing spaces are any kinds of industrial areas where goods are produced or assembled using labor and/or mechanical means.
The activity makes goods or assembles components into goods. Manual work can be part or all of that production, so machinery alone does not define the space.
Storage holds goods already present, and retail presents goods for sale. Those activities can accompany production but do not by themselves constitute manufacturing.
