shoring contractor

A company which builds retention walls and shoring systems to prevent inflow of water, earth, or rock into a construction site.

A shoring contractor is a construction firm which specializes in underground and near-ground structures which protect building foundations from water inflow or loss of stability.

These firms often work in conjunction with an excavation company which digs the pit whose walls must be shored up.

The contractor builds the protective or stabilizing works at or below ground level. Excavation creates the pit, while shoring addresses its stability and protection against inflow; construction of the foundation itself is a separate, related activity.
