bar

An establishment primarily serving drinks for consumption on the premises, including non-alcoholic bars.

A bar is a place whose primary function is to serve drinks. Most bars specialize in alcoholic beverages, but juice bars, milk bars, and others also qualify. Places which serve drinks on a take-out basis are excluded.

The most common layout for a bar is a long counter with barstools on one side and a bartender on the other. Bars may also contain table seating, and often have space for musical performances.

Alcohol is common but is not mandatory. Juice and milk bars are expressly included, while drinks supplied on a take-out basis are excluded from this bar entry.
