marketplace

A space where multiple small vendors set up stalls to sell their wares separately.

A marketplace is a hall, passageway, thoroughfare, plaza, souk, or other place where various independent vendors assemble to sell merchandise. Many marketplaces are organized for a particular type of goods, such as food, spices, clothing, etc., but they can also offer a full variety of goods.

Independent vendors assemble at the site to sell their goods. The marketplace can be indoors or outdoors.

It can specialize in one kind of merchandise or offer a broad assortment. A single grocery store is different from the collection of vendors that defines a marketplace.
