gristmill

An industrial or agricultural facility grinding food grains into flour for people or animal feed.

A gristmill is an industrial or agricultural facility where food grains (such as wheat, corn, rye, etc.) are ground into flour. The end product can be used for human consumption or animal feed.

The intended output is ground grain in flour form. Grain storage alone does not provide this processing use.

The product can be intended for animals as well as people. A flour mill need not produce only flour sold for human cooking.
