maximum vehicle weight
The practical or allowed weight limit for vehicles entering a particular place or facility.
The maximum vehicle weight for any place or object is the highest allowed weight for any vehicle entering or using that place or object. A posted limit takes precedence over a structurally allowed capacity, but in the absence of any posted or stated weight limit, a practical maximum vehicle weight may be supplied by an engineer with pertinent knowledge.
This field may be used for roads, parking garages, tracks, or any other place where vehicles may enter.
A posted restriction governs even when the structure could support a heavier vehicle. An engineering estimate fills the absence of a stated limit; it does not replace an existing posted allowance.
