A facility generating electricity by burning natural gas, a methane-rich fossil fuel.

A natural gas-fueled power plant is a place where electric power is generated by burning methane gas, a fossil fuel extracted from underground deposits.

Combustion of the gas supplies the energy used for electrical generation. Gas extraction, storage, or distribution alone does not establish this plant use.

The electrical output distinguishes the plant from equipment that burns natural gas solely to heat a building. No single generator layout or building form is specified.
