drinking fountains

Related terms: water fountains · bubblers

One or more fountains in a building's or place's common areas which dispense fresh water for drinking.

A place has drinking fountains as a tenant amenity when it contains spouts or taps positioned to dispense fresh potable water to any users or visitors of that place. Drinking fountains are usually connected to a plumbing system, and are not moveable tanks or jugs of water.

The spout or tap is positioned for users or visitors to obtain drinking water. Potable water and common availability are the defining functions, rather than decorative display of water.

Movable water tanks or jugs are expressly outside the definition. Connection to plumbing is usual, while the amenity is the installed drinking-water outlet made available to the place's users.
