senior condominium
Owner-occupied housing restricted to people of retirement age, excluding on-site medical-care facilities.
A senior condominium is owner-occupied residential space available exclusively to persons of retirement age. It is generally configured for the convenience and social grouping of persons above at least 60 years old. This does not include facilities with on-site medical care such as retirement homes or nursing homes.
The residents occupy the housing as owners under its retirement-age restriction. Senior apartments use rental occupancy for a comparable age group.
On-site medical care remains outside this housing definition. A retirement home or nursing home is identified by its care arrangement in addition to the residents' ages.
