billiards
A space dedicated to games of pool or billiards, with special tables and game equipment.
Billiards comprises games played with balls and a cue stick on a special table, with pockets in some variants. Spaces which are specifically dedicated to this game or its variants may be assigned this usage. This does not apply to bars, taverns, hotels, apartment buildings, etc. which have a billiards table set up as an amenity.
Pool uses pockets around the table, while carom billiards uses a pocketless table. Both involve controlling balls with a cue on a bounded playing surface, so the equipment varies with the game.
A dedicated billiards space is arranged for playing these games. A table provided as an incidental amenity within a hotel, bar, or residential building does not give the whole premises that dedicated purpose.
