partly built then destroyed

Related terms: unfinished and demolished · destroyed during construction · never completed then demolished

Demolished or otherwise destroyed after construction began but before completion.

A structure or built object is considered 'partly built then destroyed' if it has been completely destroyed after having been partly built but never having been completed. Generally this applies only to structures which at least rose above their foundations during construction, but in certain cases it can be used for structures whose foundations were started but then destroyed.

Construction began, but the object never reached completion before its complete destruction. This separates the history from that of a completed structure demolished later.

A damaged incomplete structure still left standing can instead be in ruins under that status's conditions. The present distinction requires the partly built object to have been completely destroyed.
