foundation engineer
A company which designs the foundation structures needed to anchor a structure in the ground.
A foundation engineering company is a firm which specializes in the design of building substructures, the calculation of building loads on the substructure, and inspecting foundations during construction.
The engineering concerns the substructure and the loads passed to it by the building. Inspection during construction is included alongside design and calculation, rather than limiting the service to preparation of a design before work begins.
Geotechnical engineering determines soil conditions and foundation requirements. A foundation company constructs the foundation, which is separate from the engineering and inspection described here.
