beer garden

A beer garden is a drinking establishment specializing in beer, with picnic-type tables for social mixing, and set either outdoors or under open shelters. It usually features open seating, where any vacant seats are available so that strangers can meet each other and drink together.

An open shelter is included alongside a fully outdoor setting. The establishment need not leave every table exposed to the sky.

Open seating commonly lets different groups share available places. Food or a particular brewing arrangement is not required by this beer-garden definition.
