active heating

An active heating system indicates that a building uses some form of heat generation, as opposed to passive heat absorption or the absence of any heating.

The presence of some form of active heating can be assumed for most functioning buildings in cold climates which are unlikely to use special passive heating technology.

The building receives heat through an active system rather than relying entirely on environmental heat absorbed and retained by its design. The heating mechanism is separate from the insulation that limits heat loss.
