population
The number of persons with primary residence in an area at a particular time.
The population of any geographic area is the number of persons whose main residence is located within that area. The primary source for population figures is census data, and generally reflects the same margin of error as accepted by the local census bureau.
Each population figure is also a snapshot of the number of people residing in an area at a particular time, and old figures can be stored for queries reflecting historical points in time.
Primary residence is the basis of inclusion. A count of visitors or people temporarily present describes a different population of users from the residents of the geographic area.
