The point score associated with any recognition is a number representing the officially declared score awarded or certified along with the bestowal. The scale of points depends entirely on the giver of the recognition, and the value depends on what the recipient earns. Many recognitions do not include points.

The score belongs to one bestowal of the recognition. Its value reflects what the recipient earned under the giver's own scoring system.

A recognition without a points system can still be valid. Scores from different systems do not acquire a shared scale merely because each is expressed as a number.
