elevator travel length (max)
The maximum distance traveled by an elevator in the structure's longest shaft.
The maximum elevator travel length is the greatest distance within a structure traveled by a single elevator. It is measured from the lowest utilized position of the elevator floor to the highest position of the same floor. If the elevator's travel path bends, the distance is calculated along the curve or track of its route rather than a straight line.
The endpoints are positions actually used by the elevator floor. Shaft space beyond those positions does not extend the travel length.
One elevator must cover the measured route. Journeys on separate elevators are not added together to create a longer travel distance through a building.
