A dance school is a place where dance lessons are given to students. They may provide general dance instructions or instructions in any number of special styles, such as ballroom dancing, modern dancing, or regional styles of dance.
The teaching can cover several styles or specialize in one form. Ballroom, modern, and regional dance traditions are examples.
Dance instruction distinguishes the school from a venue used simply for social dancing or staged performances. A particular performance career is not required of the students.
