mail distribution center
A place for collection and distribution of mail between the sender and receiver.
A mail distribution center is a gathering and distribution point at any point between the sender of mail and the receiver. It can include the place where locally sent mail is disseminated outward, or where incoming mail is sent for final local distribution; usually however these usages coincide in the same place.
The center is an intermediate point in the journey of mail. It can handle outward movement from a local area, inward movement toward recipients, or both.
Its position in the delivery network distinguishes it from a sender's premises or the final delivery address. Collection and distribution need not occur at only one stage of a mail route.
