Mughal architecture is a style developed in India during the Mughal Empire, and spreading into present-day Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. It blends Islamic and Persian styles with native Indian features.
Buildings in the style tend to be ornate and monumental, with domes, towers, and profusions of arches (often at various levels of a structure). Domes and arches may rise to a point, although not as steep as a Gothic arch. Materials frequently include marble and sandstone, often with rich coloring.
