top mechanical floor height
The vertical distance from base level to the highest full mechanical floor.
The height of the top mechanical floor is the vertical distance from the base of a building to the top of the structural floorplate of the highest floor which is both included in the floor count and is devoted solely to mechanical or utility functions (not counting shafts for vertical transport).
This height may be greater or lesser than the highest occupied floor height, but these two heights cannot be equal. If the top floor is divided between mechanical and occupiable uses, then it is considered the top occupiable floor.
The measurement runs from the base of the structure, the level of the lowest significant open-air pedestrian entrance. A building on a slope therefore has one height rather than one per side, and a figure taken from the low side of the same building is a different number.
Two sources giving different heights for one building have usually measured from different levels rather than measured badly.
