flight path

A common or designated air corridor used by aircraft, with boundaries and altitude limits varying along the route.

A flight path is a designated corridor in the sky or in the air where any kind of aircraft normally flies on common or designated routes. At the midpoints of routes these can be very vaguely defined, as there is great leeway in most air routes. More precise boundaries and altitude parameters are generally more relevant close to airports.

The corridor is a route through air rather than a constructed surface. Its extent can be broad between destinations and more precisely defined near an airport.

Departure and approach paths describe the respective routes away from and toward a runway.
