A divorce court is a court of law whose jurisdiction is limited to cases involving the dissolution of marriages and accompanying claims for property, money, and child custody.

The central proceeding is dissolution of a marriage. Related property, financial, and child-custody claims can accompany that proceeding.

Its jurisdiction is specific to these cases. A court with a general range of family or civil cases has a broader remit.
