A historic memorial is a place, structure, building, or marker designated as a reminder of some historic event, movement, trend, or period (other than a war, disaster, individual action, or other event which falls under some existing category).
The subject can be a broad historical movement or period as well as a single event. The place or object must have a commemorative purpose.
A memorial specifically concerning a war, disaster, or individual action belongs to its more specific category. Age alone does not make an old building a historic memorial.
