Spaces and structures which promote the technical functions of long-distance communications.
Telecommunication sites are quasi-industrial spaces used for the housing of equipment used in the transmission of signals and data streams. They usually hold a high ratio of technological equipment to human personnel.
Equipment for signal or data transmission occupies the space for its communications function. A relatively small staff can support a large equipment installation.
A television studio produces programs, while a transmission installation carries signals. An ordinary office using telephone or internet connections is separate from the facility operating those communications.
