A college is a place for classes, seminars, or study at an institution of higher learning which offers courses in undergraduate but not postgraduate study. (Institutions also offering postgraduate study are universities.) Colleges grant associate's degrees, bachelor's degrees, or other equivalents higher than intermediate degrees but lower than master's degrees or doctorates.
The institution provides undergraduate study and credentials below the master's or doctoral level. Both associate and bachelor-level programs fit that educational range.
A university also provides postgraduate study. A vocational college has a career focus within undergraduate education, while a training school is outside the degree-oriented academic system.
