pole

A freestanding antenna-like structure consisting of one vertical support, including an independent flagpole.

A pole is a freestanding antenna-like structure anchored to the ground which consists of a single vertical support. It is distinguished from a framework mast (with an open, multi-part structure) and a wired mast, which is braced in position with taut wires.

Pole masts also include freestanding flagpoles. Poles or antennae which are mounted on other structures are not listed as separate structures.

The single support distinguishes the pole from an open framework mast. Guy wires instead establish the separately defined wired-mast form; attachment to another structure makes the pole a component of that structure.
