UNESCO landmark
A structure inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site or belonging to a larger site on that list.
UNESCO landmarks are structures named by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as World Heritage Sites. These include structures which belong to larger sites on the UNESCO list, such as an entire city core or a large complex.
The World Heritage site can be an individual structure or a larger place containing structures. Membership in that larger listed site is included in the stated distinction.
The UNESCO association is separate from recognition based solely on public familiarity. It specifically concerns the World Heritage listing, rather than every form of landmark designation.
