suburb
A named part of an urban area outside or beyond its central district, sometimes with official boundaries.
A suburb is a named part of an urban area outside or beyond its central district.
It can be a separate settlement, a part of the principal city, or an officially bounded locality, depending on the country's geographic system. The term describes the place's relationship to the urban center and does not by itself imply self-government.
A neighborhood can lie anywhere within a settlement. A municipality has a legal government and can contain several suburbs, while a suburb can cross no municipal boundary only where its official definition says so.
